The soil mineralogy laboratory was organized practically from the moment of the organization of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Soil Science of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

In 1986, it was transformed into the soil geochemistry and mineralogy laboratory and united specialists in geology, geophysics and soil science with the aim of searching for and developing a system of geochemical and mineralogical indicators of the state of solid-phase components of soils for the analysis of the direction of soil and landscape-geochemical processes, restoration of environmental conditions.
