The Scientific Council on Earth Cryology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Physicochemical and Biological Problems of Soil Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
the Melnikov Permafrost Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Earth Cryosphere Institute of the Tyumen Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences inform that the All-Russian Pushchino Conference on Permafrost with international participation “Problems of the Earth’s Cryosphere” is planned to be held from May 12 to 16, 2025.
The conference will be held at the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Pushchino, Moscow Region.
Participation will be in person – oral reports and poster presentations.
Working language – Russian/English.
Online broadcast of the sessions will be provided.
The conference topics cover the whole variety of studies of the Earth's cryosphere:
General, regional and historical geocryology;
- Engineering permafrost science. Stability of structures in the cryolithozone;
- Cryogenic processes and phenomena;
- Underground and surface waters of the cryolithozone;
- Soils in the permafrost zone of the Arctic and Antarctica;
- Geocryological monitoring. Organization, technology, devices and equipment;
- Glaciers and rock glaciers;
- Geographic information systems and mapping of permafrost strata;
- Organic matter and greenhouse gases during permafrost degradation;
- Cryosphere as an ecosystem (terrestrial examples and extraterrestrial analogues);
- Geophysical methods for studying the cryolithozone;
It is planned to organize round tables on topical issues.
Abstracts will be published as an electronic collection with registration in the Russian Science Citation Index and posted on the conference website, no more than 4000 characters (with spaces).
The registration fee for participation in the conference is paid by transferring to the account of the Melnikov Permafrost Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, or upon direct registration of the participant: main - 5000 rubles; young scientists - 2500 rubles; students/master's students/postgraduate students - no registration fee. Additional events are paid separately. Detailed information on accommodation in Pushchino will be sent out later.
